Skills that pay ₹1 lakh per month in India do exist, but in almost every field that level comes after years of experience, not straight out of a course.

₹1 lakh a month is roughly ₹12 lakh a year in CTC. This guide lists 20 skills where people in a typical job title report reaching about that level, and shows at what stage they usually get there.

The figures come from AmbitionBox for 17 skills and PayScale for three where AmbitionBox data was not available to us. Both are averages of salaries people report, not offers.

Read this first: Pay is experience- and role-dependent. Entry-level pay is usually far lower: in 17 of these 20 skills, the average for the first experience bracket shown is roughly ₹5.4–11 lakh a year. Your number depends on company, city, performance and the exact role, and no skill or course guarantees it. For a step-by-step view of the journey, read our companion guide on how to earn ₹1 lakh a month from a skill.

What “skills that pay ₹1 lakh per month” really means

Salary sites in India report annual CTC, the full cost to the company. ₹12 lakh CTC works out to ₹1 lakh a month on paper.

Your in-hand pay will be lower once provident fund, tax and other deductions come out. Check your own numbers on the Income Tax Department’s portal before comparing offers.

Demand matters as much as the skill. The World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report 2025 names AI and big data, networks and cybersecurity, and technological literacy as the fastest-growing skills, and Naukri JobSpeak (March 2026) reported AI/ML hiring up 45% over FY26.

What the list tells you

Three patterns stand out.

  • Experience does most of the work. Only product management, investment banking and data science show early-career figures at or near ₹12 lakh a year; the other 17 are below it.
  • Titles matter. The same skill pays very differently at executive and manager level, so plan for the next title, not just the next course.
  • Demand helps. AI, data, cloud and security skills tend to reach the line sooner than general business roles.
